PLAY DAY event.  Sep 14 (Sat) from 10-5ish

Badminton enthusiasts – the WNC Open will take place on Sep 12, 13, 2013.  Due to illness and injuries of committee members, we chose to make this year a PLAY DAY event.  Sep 14 (Sat) from 10-5ish.  Lunch provided, same gym as last year, same good food and play till ya drop!!  No preregistration required, but let us know your intent and possible how many from your club or area.  This is a good time for NC seniors to get in some good practice before state tournament.  Cost is $20 per person.  Thanks for all your support.  We are trying to get a program started for youth in this school.  The principal is real supportive.

ASHEVILLE BADMINTON CLUB MASH UP  2012!
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8 – 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Location: Montford Community Center, 34 Pearson Drive, Asheville, NC 28801.

Purpose:
1. To provide competitive recreational play for experienced players of all ages from area badminton clubs. No trophies, no medals, no eliminations – just good play and camaraderie

2. A fund raising event to provide support for the Montford Community Center After School Program.

Refreshment: Drinks, fruit and pizza will be provided for lunch.

Contribution:  $20 per participant. This event does not financially benefit the Asheville Badminton Club. Funds remaining after expenses are covered will be donated to the Montford Community Center After School Program. You are welcome to contribute more than $20 if you wish.

Registration: Participants may bring their completed waiver forms or fill them out as they register. Payment can be made by check or cash

Format: We have four courts and to prevent extended waiting time between games, we will playing mostly doubles games. All games will be played in a standard 21 point format. We expect to make the games competitive and fun.

Greenville, SC Badminton Tournament  –  Saturday, November 10.

This annual charitable tournament is sponsored/funded by General Electric and co-organized by GE and Greenville Badminton Club. Players of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. Delicious and FREE Asian lunch and drinks will be provided. Trophies and prizes from each division will be awarded to the winners. There will be trophies/prizes for consolation winners too!

Registration is free, and a donation of at least $20 per person per event is suggested. 100% of the donations goes to MathCounts Piedmont Chapter, an upstate non-profit organization promoting math education. This is not a USBA sanctioned tournament.

Purpose of this tournament:
To provide a venue in North Carolina for badminton players from surrounding states, of all ages, to meet and engage in competitive play with players from outside their local areas; therefore level of competition does vary. To increase camaraderie and more play among Badminton enthusiasts.

Competition with players outside our own clubs can only increase our skill level; therefore, we welcome and invite as many of you who may, to join us for a GREAT day of fun, fellowship and competition. GEARUP for NC State Senior Games in Sep!

This is NOT a USA Badminton sanctioned tournament.  This tourney is sponsored by the Macon County Senior Games and all proceeds benefit the MCSG.

Fees:  $15.00 1st event, $5.00 ea. add’l., 4 events max & no more than 2 per S, D, X
M/W Singles, Doubles, Mixed
U 17, Open, 40+, 50+, 60+, 70+, 80+
Schedule:  Pool play when age category is 4 or less and single elim. w/ consolation, otherwise

Saturday: gym opens for warm-up and registration 7:30 am
8:30 am (doubles, singles, mixed) – 9:00 pm
Gym has 4 regulation courts, air conditioned and shower facilities.

*NO food or drink allowed in the gym.  Concession stand in hallway with ample room to eat.

Rules:  USBA 21 point game rules.

1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Medals given in all divisions.
Prize given to the club/team that brings the most members to participate and to 1st entry rec’d.

Pre-register by Aug 14, on-site check-in will be Saturday, Aug 18, 7:45 am.
